Alan McMurtrie

Story-teller & Playwright

alanstory offers audio-stories for download

Alan's stories lead us into mysteries & revelations. Each has its unique voice & all are told in ways that grip the listener to the end.

Find them easily on the AUDIO menu, which provides a synopsis or blurb for the story that interests you & a FREE taster.

If you want a laugh, try Changing Trains or Four Old Fogies or McGonagall in Limbo. For a detective story, try The Ring & the Sausage or Mallory's Camera. If you like adventure & exploration, Life without Mirrors takes us deep into darkest Peru. Tanpura is a love story & Oastie with the Moastie explores the poignancy of loss. If you care about injustice, Anglo-Saxon Values is based on a true story known to the author. If history is your bag, try Tommy or Tiger in the Cakeshop.

COMING SOON will be Journey to the Golden Time a story about the first rounding of Cape Horn.

Excerpts from: Four Old Fogies, Tiger in the Cakeshop, Tanpura, Oastie with the Moastie, & Mallory's Camera.

The story-telling is always intriguing. Between 50 minutes & 2 hours long, the stories have ‘chapters’ & are ideal for listening to on journeys, when marooned at airports etc, & can easily be resumed close to where you left off.

Never po-faced, Alan’s stories evoke not just a surprise & passion of living but also the puzzle & enigma of what existence so often throws at us.

Altho the aural format is not aimed at the poorly sighted, the dyslexic, or the hands-free routinely busy, it provides an experience of evolving narrative for those unable to sit & read at length.

If you are registered as visually impaired, you (or your agent) can claim a hefty DISCOUNT on the audio-stories.

This site also offers (as SCRIPTS) a selection of Alan McMurtrie’s STAGE PLAYS, RADIO & SCREEN PLAYS, & other LONGER pieces. Under the various headings (see MENU left) you will find synopses, prefaces & FREE tasters.

There will also be a current FREEBIE, an extract or shorter piece, changed from time to time.
